Why baking?

Food has been important factor in our family because my mom had to raise four kids all by herself, and to make her life easier, I learned how to cook and bake. Baking is something that makes me satisfied. I use baking as one extra thing I can do when I am bored or sad. Making my own recipes and giving my friends a piece are always good, but seeing their happy faces makes me happy.

This cake here is something I will bake for DePalma's restaurant starting next month. I have not met a person yet who says he or she does not like it. This is made with egg whites, sugar, almonds, whipped cream, vanilla Greek yogurt, and blueberries. This cake takes only 20-30 minutes to bake, and it tastes delicious. My mom started baking this when I was young, and now I have to bake it too, because it has almost no fat, which makes it healthier, and when you put it in your mouth, you feel like you are in heaven. Hopefully people will like this cake, and I can start baking it for DePalma's daily!

My favorite cake to bake here, in the United States, is cheesecake. Cream cheese cake with different berries or fruits is just amazing. I am making my cakes super healthy by using peanut butter, instead of butter, and honey to avoid too much sugar. Also, I use cream cheese, which is mixed with Greek yogurt to make it creamier and low in fat. This cake is also the one I will bake for DePalma's, and I am super excited to see what customers think about this cake.
One of my favorite things about baking is making something people have never done before. Baking can be fun if you use your imagination and put ideas together in your head. These two cakes I baked by putting together different pictures I saw. On top you can see chocolate cake with cream cheese and strawberries. My friend wanted to bake a chocolate cake, and she sent me different cakes she wants to bake. I thought it would be too boring to bake it by using somebody's recipe, so I decided to put something together in my head. This is how we ended up. I did not measure anything, just kept adding things, and the result was amazing.
The cake on the bottom I baked on Valentine's Day. Again, using my creativity and brain, I put together this no bake cheesecake with strawberries on the side and top. This cake was perfect for Valentine's Day because strawberries look like hearts.

These three cakes are good examples how and why my baking has improved a lot, and why I started enjoying it that much. When I came to Athens, Georgia, I did not even think about baking. I was concentrated on doing my number one thing, decathlon, as best as I could. Unfortunately I got injured after the third week of working out. To fix my mental pain I started baking. At first I baked a cake for my teammate because of her birthday. At this point I did not know this was the beginning of baking cakes for my teammates when they have  birthdays. This ended up being a tradition. Every time somebody turns a year older, MasterChef Karl will bring his cake to celebrate his teammate's birthday. Baking is fun when you bake with your heart.
This is my Facebook page that will hopefully turn into a business one day. I made this to get people's attention and interest, so that when I open a restaurant or bakery, they already know what they want to buy. Also, my siblings and mother add their cakes there, and we give people short summary what was the purpose, and what is in it. Viewers often ask for recipes, and we usually give them some, but I am trying not to share my own recipes because I want to make my restaurant unique. Having cakes people have never had before makes it more interesting.
